F Gas

In line with the European Union FGas Regulation, from 4th July 2009 it became a legal requirement for all businesses that install, maintain or service stationary refrigeration, air-conditioning, heat-pump (RAC) equipment that contains "F gas" refrigerants to hold a Company Certificate issued by an appointed Company Certification Body. Climate Facilities has registered with REFCOM who have been formally named by Defra.

R22 Phase Out

Under EU Ozone Regulation EC2037/2000, by the end of 2009 the use of virgin R22 refrigerant will be banned, but it will be permissible to use recycled R22 for maintenance purposes until the end of 2014. However, there is no guarantee on the quality and availability of the refrigerant and industry experts are predicting stocks of recycled R22 to be depleted well before the end of 2014 which will inevitably result in a steep increase in the cost of the available refrigerant.

Electrical Testing & Inspection Services

An integral part of Climate Facilities` operations, the periodic inspection and testing of an electrical installation has been recognised as an essential part of ensuring compliance with the requirements of the IEE 17th Edition - BS7671 (2008) and therefore, compliance with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.

Most electrical installations suffer deterioration throughout their operational life, an electrical inspection and test is required to confirm the safe operation of the installation.

Portable Appliance Testing

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is an important part of any Health & Safety policy. The Health & Safety Executive states that 25% of all reported electrical accidents involve portable appliances.

The Electricity at Work Regulations place a legal responsibility on employers and employees to comply with the provisions of the regulations and take reasonable practicable steps to ensure that no danger results from the use of such equipment. This in effect requires the implementation of a systematic and regular programme of maintenance, inspection and testing. The level of inspection and testing required is dependant upon the risk of the appliance becoming faulty, which is in turn dependant upon the type of appliance, the nature of its use and the environment in which it is used.
